Spellings are determined by pupils phonics groups. Children will be set spellings based upon the ey sounds they are learning each week. The phonics teacher within each group will ensure pupils are sent home with a spellings list or a focus sound each week. 

Additional to phonics spellings, we ask pupils learn the Year 1 common exception words. These are words that do not follow a spelling rule in particular and pupils need to wrote learn them. Please see below for additional resources and the Year 1 common exception spelling word lists.
