January Return
Back to School on Tuesday 5th January 2021
04/01/2021
Dear Parents & Carers,
Happy New Year! There is much in the news and on social media about the return to school this week. We continue to plan for the return of children tomorrow. Should there be any change to arrangements we will let you know as soon as we can.
There will undoubtedly be a lot of anxiety and uncertainty for parents and children, as there has been from staff, around the return to school with so much in the news about coronavirus. We have reviewed and updated our risk assessment and will be taking all steps possible to keep the children and staff as safe as possible.
Please can I remind parents for the need to follow the timings for the staggered start to reduce the risk of transmission between children in different year groups. Please can I also stress the need for social distancing of 2 metres between parents when they are waiting at the gate and when they are collecting their children at the end of the school day. The one-way system is still in operation through the site and it is important that it is followed by everyone. Parents and carers should not be parking in the road alongside the school car park to drop-off or pick-up their children, as this creates a dangerous hazard for parents and children leaving the site through the one-way system.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that the children should not be carrying unnecessary items between home and school. Pencil cases are not required as equipment will be provided by school and the children don’t need large bags with them. The children should only bring in reading books on days when these need to be changed and they can have a separate reading book at home and in school. Please continue to bring water bottles and healthy morning snacks to school on a daily basis. Whenever possible, PE lessons will be taking place outside so please ensure that your child has warm clothing on their PE days.
As always, the safety of the Westgate children and staff are paramount in our minds. Sending you best wishes for 2021 from all staff and governors at Westgate Primary School
Yours sincerely,
Matthew Watson
